Dear Sir,

Reading the article in today's Telegraph about the horrific accident in the Niger Delta, caused by local villagers "stealing" petrol from a pipeline carrying fuel from an oil refinery, I wondered whom God, looking down from above, would consider the more culpable thieves: the impoverished villagers trying to take a tiny share of the oil discovered under THEIR land, or those in the world's wealthy countries who are stealing this invaluable, non-renewable natural resource from their children and coming generations in order to fuel their selfish, non-sustainable, extravagant life styles (Up to 250 killed in pipeline blast, 12 July 2000).
